DishyKit is an independent guide and gear-review site built around one hardware ecosystem: **Starlink**. Not “satellite internet in general” – the specific dishes, mounts, cables, and power accessories that Gen 2, Gen 3, and Mini owners actually buy, install, and live with.
Who We Are
We are a small team of off-grid geeks, full-time RVers, and satellite communications engineers who started converting our own Starlink setups years ago – DC power harnesses on RV roofs, seam clamps on metal shop roofs, power banks strapped to backpacks with Mini dishes inside. Along the way we discovered that the accessory ecosystem had grown faster than the honest information about it: listings that “fit Starlink” but fit nothing, adapters sold for the wrong generation, and guides that never mentioned which dish they were written for.
DishyKit exists to fix that.
What We Test and How
- Generation-specific verification: every mount, cable, and converter we review is physically tested against the hardware generation it claims to fit – mast diameters, connector fitment, power input specs.
- Real consumption logging: our power numbers (the 50-75W Gen 2, the 75-100W Gen 3, the 25-40W Mini) come from weeks of metered logging, not spec sheets.
- Season and weather exposure: mounts and cables stay installed through freeze-thaw cycles, storm seasons, and 9,000+ miles of RV travel before we publish a recommendation.
- Independent sourcing: we buy most test hardware at retail. Samples are accepted only with the agreement that coverage stays independent – and that acceptance is disclosed.
